See Birds on their Annual Migration

Wadi Rum and Aqaba stand at the junction of three continents making it a route for more than one million migration birds each year. Moreover, due to its environment and its geographic location, it is a habitat for numerous indigenous birds, some of which are rare species.

The Griffon Vulture, Bonillo’s Eagle, Human Towny Owl, Black start, wheatears, Scrub Warbler, Sinai Rose Finch, House Bunting, Trist ram’s Crackle and the fan-tailed Raven are only some of the species found in Aqaba, Petra and Wadi Rum. Aqaba and Wadi Rum are two of Jordan’s 17 Important Bird Areas [IBAs]
